#RIXREVIEWS: OPULENCE Time to Glow White + Renew

Back in October of last year, I was lucky to be a part of the first Meet & Greet and the third blog-versarry of MJ Perez of Vanity Room Philippines! The event was fun-filled and was truly inspiring. I loved that he wanted to share his blessings, not only to us – his friends/followers, but also to the less privileged children.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After the charity event, we had a sumptuous dinner at Dong Juan where we also played fun games and received loot bags filled (literally) with skin care products!

11.jpg
MJ and his sponsors have super big hearts! Many, many thanks!

Anyways, one of the products I received was the Opulence Time to Glow White + Renew.

6

The product is housed in a round transparent acrylic pot with white screw cap. The label has all the basic information that you’ll need to know – what it is for, the amount of product in the container, what it is made of, where and when it was made, how to use it, and when the expiration date is. Foot Spa at Home!|RIXREVIEWS: Calmia & Purederm Foot Peeling Masks

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.”
– Mahatma Gandhi

The most exhausted part of our body might be the feet. They bear our entire weight, as we go about our day. Sometimes, they’re even squished in really tight shoes. They’re often the least loved.

It is fortunate that nowadays there are plenty of ways to pamper our poor feet. Some might cost Galleons, but I know one that does not cost that much! Or at least, two! 😉

My sister and I decided to try out the trendy foot peeling masks. We had seen promotional videos on these products and we got really curious. Though the peeling stage scared me a bit, I knew that exfoliation was the only way to a smoother pair of feet. Continue reading “Foot Spa at Home!|RIXREVIEWS: Calmia & Purederm Foot Peeling Masks”

#RIXREVIEWS: NARUKO Tea Tree Purifying Clay Mask & Cleanser in 1

One of the perks of having attended Glamcon MNL last January 21st was being able to get free samples from participating brands. One of those brands was Naruko.

Naruko was founded by Niuer, whom everyone in Taiwan refers to as the “Beauty King”. The brand was awarded the “Best New Brand 2010” in Taiwan and China, and for three consecutive years (2008-2010), it was considered as “the most outstanding contribution to beauty”.

The brand has established itself as distinctive and highly regarded, so I consider myself fortunate to be able to try at least one of their most sought-after products. Continue reading “#RIXREVIEWS: NARUKO Tea Tree Purifying Clay Mask & Cleanser in 1”

“When in doubt, wing it out!”|RIXREVIEWS: BLK Cosmetics ‘Uncomplicated Beauty’ – EYES

More than two weeks ago, Anne Curtis released her own makeup line called “BLK Cosmetics”. According to her, BLK stands for ‘black’, her favorite color. She says black is “timeless, uncomplicated, classy, sophisticated, and simple.”

My sister and I purchased a few items from her line on the day it was launched, and finally, I got to film my review on the products. If you want to read my review on the two lippies, please click >> here <<.

On this post, you’ll be reading about BLK Brow Sculpting Duo and BLK Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeliner. These are the two eye products included in their initial release. Both products only have two shades – natural brown and taupe for the brow duo; black and brown for the eyeliner.

Anyway, let me share with you my thoughts on these ladies. Continue reading ““When in doubt, wing it out!”|RIXREVIEWS: BLK Cosmetics ‘Uncomplicated Beauty’ – EYES”

“It’s beauty made simple!” – Anne Curtis | RIXREVIEWS: BLK COSMETICS ‘Uncomplicated Beauty’ – LIPS

Several weeks ago, beauty enthusiasts all over the world got pumped up upon Riri’s release of her own beauty line called Fenty Beauty, with the tagline “Beauty for All”. Here in the Philippines, Anne Curtis, an extremely popular female celebrity has recently released her own make-up line. It’s called BLK Cosmetics. It has the tagline “Uncomplicated Beauty”.

During the launch of her products, Anne mentioned that she has partnered with Jacqe Gutierrez, one of the owners of Happy Skin – another popular local makeup brand. According to Jacqe, Anne has been hands on in the whole process, which I personally think is nice, because it just shows how dedicated and how serious she really is with her brand. It’s apparently not just business for her, and that is important for many consumers, especially for me.

So when I found out that their website was already active on Wednesday the 20th, which was the same day BLK Cosmetics was launched, my sister and I quickly placed an order to get a hold on these ladies! Everything in the collection seems

Makeup for Rainy Days with CATHY DOLL

The season for pluviophiles has begun, and it’s terrorizing those who are not. :p I don’t love the rain, but I don’t hate it even. If it rains and I’m at home, I like staying in bed, getting wrapped in blankets, reading a book, or watching a very interesting Korean drama or American TV series, or just SLEEPING! Going out is the last thing on my mind when it pours. (But I DO love the smell of rain on grass.)

There are two things that pop in my mind when I think of the word “rain”:

Gloomy. Fresh.

I know… They’re contradicting, but isn’t it true? The dismal sky turns down our mood meter, but the image of wet grass and trees reminds us of cleansing.

However, rainy season can be quite unforgiving on our skin. No skin type is safe. Whether it is oily, combination, or dry, one thing must be done – HYDRATE.

This is the season when our skin gets really crazy and unstable. It gets dehydrated and dull, but can also become oily.

Might as well use makeup products that can give us protection any time of the day.

Cathy Doll Acne Solution Serum + Foam Cleanser

7.jpg

As I mentioned earlier, this season can be unforgiving on our skin. Due to high humidity, our skin gets more prone to all the nasty stuff. With Cathy Doll Acne Solution Serum + Foam Cleanser, I thoroughly washed my face. It’s a bit liquidy and it doesn’t get too foamy. It lathers on my skin really smoothly and it smells good. I can’t lay a finger on it but I think it has a minty scent to it.

According to the packaging, it:

  • is anti acne
  • for sensitive skin
  • has oil control
  • is brightening
  • is a spot remover
  • has tea tree serum

My skin felt really clean and fresh afterwards. It felt soft to touch.

This sachet has 6ml of the product and costs only P16.

Cathy Doll Water Splash Essence

Now my face was fully-cleansed, I had to bring back some moisture that I lost after washing. Also, this weather can be super dehydrating as our body does not produce as much liquid as it normally does.

I have two (out of three) Cathy Doll Splash Essence products – one is Milky (the blue one) and the other one is Water (the pink one). I used Water Splash Essence first, not because it has L-Glutathione, but because it claims to tighten pores.

5

The product is thicker than the foam cleanser. It’s a bit moussy, but once applied on the skin, it turns watery. It did feel moisturizing afterwards, and it did brighten my skin. No wonder it also says “Sweet Dream Quick Step Whitening” at the bottom of the packet.

I noticed that my pores did seem minimized and I’m happy that it worked.

This has 5g and costs only P50. No worries! A little goes a long way so a small packet can last you for weeks.

Cathy Doll Whitening Sunscreen L-Glutathione Magic Cream

4

Just because it rains doesn’t mean there’s no sun. I used Cathy Doll Whitening Sunscreen L-Glutathione Magic Cream to keep my skin protected from the harmful UV rays. This has SPF 50 PA +++ and I LOVE IT for that!

It also has a cooling effect and spreads all over the skin smoothly. It smells like the usual facial cream, very gentle and not overpowering. It also brightens up the skin, making it look fresher and more radiant. I’ll surely repurchase.

This packet holds 8ml of the product and costs P40. Not bad for SPF 50!

Cathy Doll CC Cream Speed White

6

To stay looking healthy and fresh even in this crazy humid, gloomy, and rainy weather, I suggest you try this CC Cream from Cathy Doll. It also has SPF 50 PA +++, it brightened up my skin and it made my skin look smooth and clear.

It has a thin consistency, which is good, as it easily blends in very smoothly. It has a light coverage but buildable to medium, but careful not to put too much as it can look too light. I got the shade #1 Light Beige, which is too light for my skin tone, but eventually it oxidized and looked more natural.

It didn’t have a dewy finish. It looked demi-matte, though. Just a teenie bit of tackiness, but definitely not sticky. I was aiming for a natural glowy, healthy look, so I used a liquid illuminator underneath it. I applied it on areas where we usually add our highlighter.

I blended everything with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I pressed it a little firmly against my skin to make it look even more natural. You can also use your finger or a brush, but I think a sponge is a much better choice.

I didn’t bake, but I dusted it with L.A. Colors Pressed Powder, using my fluffiest powder brush. It looked good because it still looked dewy, unfortunately my face had an oil party after about three hours. The good thing was, after blotting so much oil (I used two sheets and it wasn’t really enough), it looked fine again, not cakey or blotchy.

This CC cream has 6g of product and only costs P40.

Final thoughts:

All Cathy Doll products mentioned above were bought at a 7-11 branch. Unfortunately, they aren’t available in the malls near us, but glad they’re available at 7-11. I commend Cathy Doll for creating affordable travel-size sachets, making it convenient for everybody. I also appreciate the fact that I didn’t have any breakouts or irritation after using all these products.

RIXREVIEWS: Detail Make Over All Matte Eyeshadow Palettes

I am so happy to see more makeup products that we can call “our very own”. Actually, there are too many now, it’s overwhelming! However, most of them look pretty much the same things, only packaged differently.

Lipsticks, whether they’re bullets, liquid, or tints, are the most common ones. Very, very few come up with eyeshadows, but I think none of them are made here in the Philippines.

I mean, yeah, they’re local BRANDS, but not locally MADE. If you know what I mean…

I noticed that they’re made in China; I’m not saying that it’s bad, it’s just that I hope they’re made here. I’m not sure if they were formulated here and was just manufactured and packaged there; or if they were bought from China, then repackaged and rebranded here.

That makes me wonder, aren’t there any makeup laboratories here in our country?

For lipsticks, I’m sure there are. But for eyeshadows, nah.

Nevertheless, I’m still happy to see that local makeup companies are now coming up with new products – products that are mostly made available by international companies.

Anyways, this is getting longer and nowhere, let me just go ahead and start with the review.

So, as I was saying… I’m happy that local brands are now releasing more makeup products and one of these brands is Detail Make Over by Cosmetix Unlimited. They also have lipsticks, blushes, eyeliners, highlighters, etc. But I think what made them really relevant in the beauty world, aside from their matte liquid lipstick, is their Contour and Blush Effects 4-in-1 Palette. I got mine from Beauty MNL and here’s the first look I created with it:

(By the way, this is quite an old video and I’m sorry for the poor quality! Please excuse my akwardness!)

Detail Make Over recently released their first eyeshadow palettes. I first saw them while browsing Beauty MNL’s website. I looked for reviews, but there weren’t any. So, I decided to just get both palettes and see for myself.

1

These palettes are really affordable! P265 for a palette with 9 matte eyeshadows? Not bad! It’s got every shade that I’ll need to create a day or a night makeup look.  Of course, for such a price point, we cannot expect it to be super impressive.

It doesn’t feel silky or buttery, but it does feel smooth on my fingertips. It’s powdery so it has a lot of kick back with the brush, which is a lot similar with their contour palette.

SWATCHES
Arm swatches of the Day palette (left) and the Night palette (right)

The pigmentation is not as vibrant as Morphe or Juvia’s, but it’s buildable. This is perfect for beginners, they won’t pack too much product on their eyes by mistake.

The color pay-off is pretty good. What you see on the palette is also what you’ll see on the swatches.

My eyes did not feel strange or become watery, so I’d say it’s safe to use. However, if you’re conscious about paraben, this is definitely not for you. This palette contains paraben so use it at your own risk.

2
Screengrabbed from my video to show you the ingredients. It’s a bit blurry, but it’s readable.

There’s nothing wrong with the packaging, it looks nice and simple. It’s also easier to tell which palette is which, since you can see through the cover. I only wished that, instead of a transparent lid, there should’ve been a mirror as large as the palette.

looks
My Day to Night makeup look using the palettes

I love the color selection for both palettes. They both consist of light to dark shades. There are neutrals in them, which are perfect for the crease and the outer V. I super love the green one on the Night palette. I think it’s really close to the one in Kathleen Light’s palette, except that the latter is shimmery.

For me, it’s a palette worth-buying if you are a “beauty on a budget” or simply a beginner. But if you’re into high-end makeup, this is definitely not for you.

So what do you think of these palettes? Leave a comment below if you’ll purchase one and if you already have, let me know what you think!

Detail Make Over, by the way, is going to release new palettes and I am SOOOO excited! I saw their IG Story and I thought these were something to watch out for.

Wink and Pout Cosmetics “Work & Play” Beauty Box

Hey there, Playmates! How’s it going? I’ve had a couple of bad weeks, but no worries! I’m holding up.

Anyway, this isn’t about me, it’s about this really affordable beauty box that I discovered on Instagram mid-June. It’s called the Kikay Beauty Box by Wink and Pout Cosmetics on FB or @wapcosmetics on IG.

3

They curate three boxes with different themes. Each box only costs P399. If the items were sold separately, they would cost about P500.

There are also options for buyers if they want to get either of the two cute tin boxes with an additional payment of P50, or just the regular box. I got the black tin one and I’m still thinking of what to use it for. It’s a nice storage for stationery, makeup, etc.

Let me show you the three Kikay boxes:

Lip Care and Bare

This box consists of four lip products:

  • 1 Pil’aten Lip Mask that replenishes, moisturizes, and nourishes the lips (P40)
  • 1 Lip Fuel Lip Scrub that evens out lip texture and removes lip discoloration (P80)
  • 1 Isabelle Dupont Lip Balm that moisturizes and protects lips from cracking or drying (P120)
  • 1 Isabelle Dupont Lipstick which is a HALAL certified product (P250)

Total Cost: P490

2

Blushing Belle

This box consists of six (6) products that can give you a “pinkish glow on your face and lips”.

  • 1 AT Organics Lip and Cheek Tint (P110)
  • 1 Daiso Eyebrow Pencil (with refill)
  • 1 Daiso BB Face Cream
  • 1 Pil’aten Pore Strip
  • 2 Compressed Face Masks
  • 2 Beauty Sponges

Unfortunately, I don’t know how much the other products are and they’re not stated on their posts as well.

1

Finally, the box that I purchased from them…

Work and Play

This box consists of six (6) products as well, which are perfect for those who “work and have fun”.

  • 1 Isabelle Dupont Lipstick
  • 1 Pil’aten Lip Mask
  • 1 Daiso Eyebrow Pencil (with refill)
  • 1 set of 3 Eyebrow Stencils
  • 2 Beauty Sponges
  • 3 DIY Compressed Facial Masks

12

Now, let me give you my two cents on this box.

10.jpg

Let’s start with the lipstick.

WAP Cosmetics have 7 shades of the Isabelle Dupont lipsticks namely: Lady Boss, Shameless, That’s Vouge, Sultry, Sweet Pea, Winterblush, and Burnished Vamp.

4

I initially thought it was a Philippine brand, but upon research, I learned that it wasn’t. Isabelle Dupont is a brand of GIZ Cosmetics, which is based in Turkey.

When I placed my order, they let me choose the shade and I chose Winterblush. It’s a pretty YLBB (Your Lips But Better) shade, which is pinkish nude and little mauvey.

8

I like how smooth and creamy it feels as it glides onto my lips. It feels moisturizing and lightweight. My only trouble with it is that it clings onto the dry areas of my lips, so it tends to look patchy up close. It’s just like my Makeup World Pucker Up Lipstick in the shade Berlin. So lip scrubbing and moisturizing are highly recommended when using this lippie.

5

Another plus for me is that I don’t feel anything strange in my mouth and throat whenever I wear it.

Final thoughts:

17355119_10212804238689119_1966902406_n

Let’s now move on to the Daiso Eyebrow Pencil. I had never tried any Daiso makeup so I was quite excited to try it. I like the fact that the shade they gave me is brown, because it is the color I usually wear on my brows.

7

The packaging kinda feels flimsy, but after twisting the nib several times, it seems to hold up well. So yeah, to get the product, simply twist the nib that looks like the one on any ball point pens. The product itself is about as long as an average thumb, and you get two spares so it can go a long away.

This pencil creates fine strokes so you can draw fake brow hairs for a more natural look. It doesn’t go off easily and does not smudge. I’m impressed! It also comes with a spoolie, so an  for convenience!

Final thoughts:

17355119_10212804238689119_1966902406_n

With this eyebrow pencil, I also tried using the brow stencil. It was my first time, but surprisingly, it was not an epic failure! The set comes in three different shapes, numbered 1, 2, and 3. One is arched, the other one is straight, while the other one is rounded. I used No. 1, the arched one.

9

The angle is not too high, so I didn’t end up looking like a villain. It’s really easy to use; perfect for beginners!

I personally think that you can use it as a pattern when shaving or plucking your brows. Simply put the stencil in place, trace the shape with a brow pencil, and then remove whatever that’s outside the line.

With a stencil, I think it can make doing our brows a lot quicker and easier. The only thing to watch out for, is the angle. Make sure your brows are parallel to each other.

Final thoughts:

17350992_10212804241089179_333130645_n

As for the beauty sponge, I got two of them – a pink and a purple. I used the purple one and I think it feels like my Swan Pro Egg Blender, only smaller. It does not expand and it’s too firm. You can squish it, but it isn’t bouncy. It DOES blend the foundation and the concealer pretty well, though, but nothing particularly special about it.

I also used it for baking with my loose powder, and it wasn’t bad at all.

Watch it in action in my Bold & Edgy Red Makeup Look video:

Final thoughts:

17274507_10212804238609117_980124131_n

By the way, I received a free Blackhead Pore Strip as a freebie and I’d like to create a separate blog post for that, as well as for my Pil’aten Lip Mask and DIY Compressed Face Masks.

Overall, this box isn’t bad at all, since it is really affordable. It’s recommended for students or anyone who doesn’t wanna splurge.

In addition, I give their service two thumbs up! I placed my order morning of June 15th. They sent me an invoice in the evening of the same day. I settled my payment the next morning, June 16th, then they shipped out my parcel that afternoon. My parcel arrived on the 17th!

The box was completely and carefully covered in bubble wrap and the items in the box were also wrapped separately. I love the fact that they had handwritten thoughtful notes and helpful instructions. See how much love they put into their boxes!

Oh, and also, you can Mix & Match and make the box more personalized! Check out WAP Cosmetics on Instagram or on Facebook.

So what do you think of this box? Which item/s do you think is/are the most interesting?

Hope you leave a comment!

See you in my next post!

RIXREVIEWS: K-Beauty – KARADIUM

If you have been following me on Instagram or on YouTube, you would know that I was one of the lucky BFF’s who won amazing Korean beauty products from YEF Philippines.

YEF ALL

Most of the makeup products that we received are from the brand called Karadium. Karadium has been in the market since 2010 offering unique products that become international bestsellers. Their products are also paraben-free!

Thanks to YEF, I’ve been able to use these amazing products! Now, let’s get on with the review! 😉

Collagen Moisture 2-Way Cake Foundation in #23

two cake
Photo grabbed from their website

*Price:

  • Karadium website: ₩26,000 (around P1,147)
  • YEF PH website: P480 (reg. price: P1,083)
(*May vary depending on KRW to PHP conversion.)

Just like any other two-way cake foundation, this can be used wet or dry. It has a round mirror that’s the same size as the compact itself. Like a Korean BB cushion, it has separate a pan for the puff.

It gives off a better coverage and a smooth-looking skin when used wet. If you’re going for a longer-lasting coverage, this is the way to go. Simply wet the puff or any sponge of your choice, then squeeze out the water before applying it onto the skin.

For dry application, this foundation is good for setting your liquid or cream foundation. I think the finish is too powdery so using a mist afterwards will be a good idea. It can also be used as it is for a light coverage.

Since most Korean foundations or BB creams are light, No. 23, which is the darkest, is still quite light for me. I always have to use a bronzing powder or a darker powder to neutralize the color.

As for the scent, it is really subtle, so it’s okay for those who are quite sensitive with odors.

I like how this looks on my skin once it sets. It also does not make my face too oily after hours. It kinda gives my skin a healthy dewy look. I also love the fact that it has SPF 25 PA++, protecting my skin from the sun. It also has anti-sebum properties that help absorb excess oil.

Final thoughts:

Cream Cheek Stick in No. 5 Shading

cream cheek
Photo grabbed from their website

*Price:

  • Karadium website: ₩25,000 (around P1,101)
  • YEF PH website: P520 (reg. price: P1,042)
(*May vary depending on KRW to PHP conversion; may be lower during PROMOS/SALE)

This product has five shades:

  • #1 Indie Pink (blush)
  • #2 Warm Coral (blush)
  • #3 Soft Peach (blush)
  • #4 Highlighter
  • #5 Shading

The shade that I’ve got is for contouring.  But since I, like most Filipinos, have tanned skin, this will not give enough definition on the face. It will only give a really subtle effect, which isn’t bad if you’re going for a natural look.

I really love the packaging and the fact that it comes with a flat top brush, which is placed on the other end of the product. Super convenient! The product itself is soft and creamy that it glides smoothly and blends nicely.

Final thoughts:

Flat Eyebrow Pencil in No. 4 Gray Brown

flat eyebrow
Photo grabbed from their website

*Price:

  • Karadium website: ₩8,000 (around P352)
  • YEF PH website: P220 (reg. price: P333)
(*May vary depending on KRW to PHP conversion; may be lower during PROMOS/SALE)

Initially, I didn’t think I’d like this shade because I normally used dark brown on my brows. It turned out that it was just fine, since my eyebrows are naturally black. It isn’t as dark as black, but it’s definitely good for filling in my brows.

It’s an angled pencil, which I think is perfect for natural brow makeup, so it doesn’t create harsh lines nor does it clump my brow hairs. It can be used alone or with other brow products such as gel, pomade, or powder.

It also comes with a spoolie, which is on the other end of the pencil. It makes doing my brows convenient, since I don’t need to bring a separate spoolie when I travel.

The only downside is the fact that it is a retractable pencil; once it breaks, it IS broken. I may put the broken pencil back into the tube, but it won’t securely stay put. If worse comes to worst, I lose that pencil… then, bye, bye!

Well, I guess I just have to be extra careful with it. 😉

Here are the other shades:

  • #1 Black Brown
  • #2 Dark Brown
  • #3 Real Brown
  • #4 Gray Brown
  • #5 Light Brown

Final thoughts:

Shining Pearl Eyeshadow Stick in No. 6 Chocolate Brown

shining
Photo grabbed from their website

*Price:

  • Karadium website: ₩15,000 (around P661)
  • YEF PH website: P360 (reg. price: P625)
(*May vary depending on KRW to PHP conversion; may be lower during PROMOS/SALE)

This is perfect for those who are always on-the-go! With its pen-type retractable eyeshadow that has a really smooth texture, you won’t need high makeup skills to apply it. You won’t also need to bring a separate brush or mess up your finger because it already comes with a sponge tip for blending.

As seen in the photo above, it comes in 10 shades, and mine is the 6th one from the left – Chocolate Brown. What I do is apply it on my entire lid, just beneath my crease. Then, I blend it out with the sponge blender. I want to intensify the crease area so I focus on it more. Then, blend it out again.

This shade can be used alone or with other makeup products. It’s also good for days when I want a natural look. It looks better with a nice eyeliner, too!

The other shades look really pretty, I might try and get some.

The names of the shades are:

  • # 1 Snow White
  • #2 Ice Pink
  • #3 Orange Marmalade
  • #4 Gold Night
  • #5 Honey Beige
  • #6 Chocolate Brown
  • #7 Daily Brown
  • #8 Caramel Gold
  • #9 Rose Gold
  • #10 Reddish Pink

This mascara has two variants: curling and volume. Take a look at the photo above. Notice that the wands are different from each other. The one with the curled wand is for curling, (obviously); while the one on the right, the thicker one, is for volume.

I LOOOVE this mascara. The formula is so good that it does not clump my eyelashes. The curled wand is thin enough that it can reach the extremities. I usually find it hard to apply mascara on the lashes near the corner of my eyes, but this product has made it a lot easier. As well as with my lower lashes, the application requires little effort.

One thing that I don’t like about it is, it tends to smudge. I have very oily skin that’s why I prefer using waterproof mascaras and eyeliners. When my face oils up and the lashes touch the skin, it smudges and creates black patches on my under eye and the outer corners. If I had dry skin, I don’t think it would be a problem.

Oh My Lips in No. 1 Deep Red

The packaging of this lipstick is A-OK! Ingenious! Instead of the usual pull-up cap, it has a twist-up cap! Yes, you twist the cap to open, and just twist again to lock it. No more messy pouches or bags! No more dented or broken lippies!

The product itself is really pigmented. I can create a bold look by applying it evenly on my entire lips. To create a “naturally bitten lips” look, I concentrate on the inner center of my lower lip then smudge it with a brush or my finger to cover the rest of my lips. This creates a gradient look – dark in the center and light on the edges.

It’s so creamy it effortlessly slides on my lips and blends beautifully. It does not settle in the lines or crevices or in the dry areas. Like any other cream lipsticks, it is not transfer-proof or smudge-proof.

It has 6 shades:

  • #1 Deep Red
  • #2 Orange Red
  • #3 Tangerine
  • #4 Royal Pink
  • #5 Peachy Pink
  • #6 Pink Beige
  • #7 Pink Balm

Another Karadium product that I loooove! This puff is so good that you won’t think it’s inexpensive. It’s in a bottle gourd shape, which I find more convenient than the teardrop shape. The inner curves make holding it easier and more secure. IMO!

This puff almost doubles in size when damp. It’s really soft it gently bounces on my face, blending my makeup well without hurting my skin.

The tip reaches the curves and crevices of my face, just like what we all expect from any other beauty sponges.

I haven’t tried a Beauty Blender yet, so I don’t really know the difference. But I can compare it with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. To be honest, I find both of them effective and I think they work pretty much the same. The difference, apparently, are their shapes.

They also have a cute collaboration with Pucca, which is a super cute collection! It’s the Karadium x Pucca.

  • YEF PH website: P299 (reg. price: P690)

First of all, it has a really cute packaging. With a transparent cover with Pucca printed on it, this compact single eyeshadow is truly an eye-catcher.

It comes in six pretty shades:

  • #1 Beige Shine
  • #2 Gold Shine
  • #3 Flower Shine
  • #4 Antique Shine
  • #5 Sunshine
  • #6 Smoky Shine

Notice that all shades are really close to skin tones; they are intended to make our eyes look pretty but still gravitate towards natural look. It’s really soft and does not dry our sensitive eyelids. It also lasts throughout the day without creasing.

I love how buttery it feels and does not have a lot of kickback when using a brush. It gives off a proper amount of pigmentation with both brush and finger.

This can be used as it is, but it can also be used along with other makeup products.

This, among everything I received, is my most favorite! The packaging is super cute! It looks like a pen. The container is thicker than the usual eyeliners, so I find it easier to control because it just feels like any other regular pens.

It has a really soft tip making the application super easy. It’s like an art brush pen; I can create thick or thin lines effortlessly. It is an ink-tank type so the product is dispensed evenly, preventing the eyeline from cutting-off. The formulation is stunning, but make sure you shake it well to get the full pigmentation.

This eyeliner holds up pretty well since it’s waterproof, but it can’t withstand the oiliness of my face during hot and humid weather. The good thing about it, though, is that re-application is not a problem. I just re-apply when the color fades off and it looks perfect again.

Taking Facial Care More Seriously

Taking care of my skin wasn’t my top priority back then. I thought constant washing and cleansing was enough. I didn’t use to think that facial care would even be a necessity.

As years went by, my hormones started changing (and raging) causing breakouts and acnes. I have tried light chemical exfoliation and basic facial treatment in Flawless ONLY ONCE (which by the way, really, really, cleared my skin BUT has left ugly scars. T_T )

I used several toners and no-peel exfoliants… irregularly. I am so inconsistent in almost everything. One week, I religiously kept my regimen, the next week, I didn’t.

Hence, my unpleasant textured skin. I initially thought I had combination skin, but later realized that the dry patches were just dead skin cells that needed exfoliating; which revealed my true skin type – oily. SUPER oily.

Years back, I heard that moisturizers are a major no-no for oily skin types. I later learned that moisturizers are just as important for oily skin as it is for dry skin. Removing a lot of oil from our skin actually makes it produce more oil. If our skin is properly moisturized, at least it will think that there’s enough oil making it produce less than it usually does.

So basically, we have to wash/cleanse, exfoliate, tone/hydrate, and moisturize. Koreans have 6-step and even 10-step skin care routine, making almost every beauty enthusiast in the world really hooked.

This is just my personal routine, which, by the way, only started the other night. And this is the MEDYO lazy version:

skin care routine

  1. Remove makeup. I use two products when removing my makeup: Holika Holika Daily Garden Lip and Eye Remover in Olive for my eyes and lips; and micellar water for my entire face. I am currently using Maybelline.  I use makeup remover for my eye makeup, because most of the products I use are waterproof, so micellar water isn’t enough. Skip this step if you don’t have makeup, of course.
  2. Cleanse. After removing my makeup, I wash my face with Faith Hope Love Coffee Soap. It has real coffee bits that help remove dead skin cells and thoroughly cleanse my face. It also smells super good! Hello, coffee lover! I love using it in the morning and in the evening. I’ve cut it into four smaller blocks and I’m now on my 3rd block.
  3.  Exfoliate. To completely make my skin clearer and softer, I use Skin Food Black Sugar Mask twice a week. Immediately after washing, I take a reasonable amount of product and massage it all over my face. Application isn’t a problem as the product glides on the skin easily. It may just be quite abrasive because of the real sugar bits, so I make sure I do it really gently. It smells super good – sugary and citrusy. I concentrate on my cheeks (my problem area), chin, nose, as well as my jaws. I leave it on my face for 10-15 minutes. After that, I wash it off with water, preferably lukewarm water.A good alternative for this is the iWhite Korea 2-Minute Whitening Miracle Wash Off Mask. I swear it’s super good and affordable, too!
  4.  Tone. I’m currently using Nivea Mattifying Toner.  I got mine on a 50% OFF Sale at Watson’s and I regret not getting two!

    Nivea Mattifying Toner
Enriched with Ocean Algae & Hydra IQ
    – tones the skin deeply and removes residues
    – reduces excess sebum and oil with its mattifying formula
    – maintains skin’s natural moisture balance.

Anyway, I just apply an appropriate amount of product onto a cotton pad and gently apply it on my skin. You can also apply it with your hands. Put a few drops of the toner on the palm of your hand, rub your palms together, and gently pat it all over your face.

  5.  Apply Essential Oil/Ampoule. Actually, whichever you prefer using or have in your kit. As for me, I use AND LOVE Terra Merita Natural Oil Cocktail and Watering Cocktail. I only have the sample sizes and I hope I knew where to get the (LEGIT) full-sized bottles.
To be honest, using this alone after washing my face is already enough. It has made my skin SUPER smooth, properly moisturized, and feeling really healthy! I just gently spread the oil all over the face, and with my warm fingers, I massage it for a few minutes. Then put a few drops of the watering cocktail on my palm and pat it all over my face.
  6.  Apply Sheet Mask. I wasn’t a huge fan of sheet masks; but I have honestly started to enjoy them now. Take any mask of your choice, tear it open, squeeze the liquid-based formula first before you take out the mask, and apply it all over your face. You may also wanna pop it in the refrigerator first to make it more refreshing!Anyway, once you’ve taken all the serum, carefully unfold the mask and place it on your face. Gently pat and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. It actually depends on the brand or kind of sheet mask you’re using, so make sure you check the label first. Do not rinse, use all the serum and let your skin absorb it. You can also apply the rest of the product on your hands, elbows, knees, ankles, feet, or any part of your body that you think is drought-stricken (LOL!)
    mask day 1
Day 1. Dewy Tree Aqua Panda Mask

This is the Dewy Tree Aqua Panda Mask I received from YEF Philippines. I can’t really lay a finger on how it smells, but it reminds me of dried mangoes. Hehe! I find the concept really cool. Unlike the other plain-looking masks, this one has a face of a panda printed on it. It even has a bamboo shoot in the mouth! Cute!

    mask day 2
Day 2. Jein 8 Sasaspa Facial Essence Mask

This is the Jein 8 Sasaspa Facial Essence Mask, which is also included in the YEF Philippines package. It smells and feels super refreshing. According to the instructions on the back of the packet, it should stay on for 20-30 minutes, much longer than the Panda Mask.

  7. Moisturize. This is the final step. Once the liquid from the sheet mask has dried, my skin already feels a little tacky. I take a pea-size amount of my A-Skin Moisturizing Gel and gently massage it all over my skin. It’s clear gel and a little goes a long way. It has a really subtle scent – nothing irritating.

And that’s it! And what do I get when I wake up in the morning? A very happy skin that feels super healthy, supple, soft, and smooth! That’s just after Days 1 and 2! How much more if I do it regularly?

You do not need to follow every single step every day, since exfoliation is only done twice a week. It takes 46 to 60 minutes over all, including the “waiting time” in between application. You can do it while watching TV or Korean dramas (watch VOICE if you haven’t yet), or even while reading a book, or browsing the internet. You can also do NOTHING while you wait! You know, give yourself some “ME” time, free your mind of all the toxic work or PEOPLE!

*wink* *wink*

If you love makeup, make sure you also pay a lot more attention on your skin. If you want a better finish and make your makeup look good and last longer, you need a smooth and healthy canvas. And of course, after using all that makeup, make sure you free your skin – your PORES! If not, you’ll end up blaming your makeup for giving you breakouts when the real reason is you!

I do not have the most beautiful skin, it really isn’t even pretty. But trust me, I’ve had WORSE! It’s never too late to take care of our skin. Pamper it. Love it. Make it your best friend! 😉
