If you’ve been a reader of my blog, you’ll know that I have an extremely oily skin. I have attempted several methods of keeping oil at bay and not all of them really worked on me (Jamsu did, tho!). It’s crazy how a lot of people would rave about a method and say it’s THE BEST, but of course, we should NEVER forget that not everything that works for one person works for everybody else.
As you may already know, I’ve just received my Althea package and a couple of products there are meant to address my problem with oil. I tried them yesterday to test their effectiveness, and if you have the same problem as mine, well I hope this helps. Continue reading “I attempted to stay oil-free with these products, and here’s what happened…”
A couple of months ago, Althea held the Petal Velvet Powder Selfie Contest where they’d be choosing 10 lucky winners of $50 worth of Althea shopping credits. Thanks to my girl Christine (@theglamourhour) for making me join. Had she not, I wouldn’t have had this rare opportunity!
The $50 shopping credits appeared on my Althea account on October 31st, as promised by one of their “pixies”. Prior to this, I had already picked all the items I wanted to get and added them all to cart. (The winners were announced beginning of October.) By the time I was ready to check out, some of the items had already been out of stock. So I had to go through their vast ocean of amazing Korean skin care and makeup products again.
Thanks again to my beshy Christine, I learned that I could use Althea’s Halloween promo code at that time to get 13% discount. So, yep! I got to pick more items just to use up all P2,600 ($50) credits.
Had it not been for the shopping credits and the promo code, I would’ve paid P3,194! I got a discount of P415.22 so I only had to pay P178.78.
The best part? I only had to wait 10 days! They’ve been consistent, by the way. This was the third time I purchased from them, and I have never been disappointed. They shipped out my parcel on the 1st of November, and it was delivered to my doorstep today, the 11th. No problems with ‘croicky’ Customs.
Let me now show you the products that I picked. Continue reading “I WON IN ALTHEA’S SELFIE CONTEST!”
On the day Vice Cosmetics was launched online, I immediately purchased a lip kit and posted my review on it.
Included in the Phenomenal Lip Kit was a ticket, which I decided to giveaway on my Facebook page. I was meaning to go to the concert, but there was a change of plan. Just so the ticket wouldn’t be wasted, I decided to give it to someone who could really, really go.
A week later, I posted the winner of my mini giveaway and it was Ms. Arianna Sales. Continue reading “RANT: LBC EXPRESS – A Real Party-Pooper”
For years, I was led to believe that moisturizers were a major no-no for someone who had oily skin such as me.
This turned out to be a huge mistake since all skin types need proper amount of moisture and hydration in order for the skin to work properly.
I’ve learned that our skin produces more oil if it’s too dry. So it’s not really good when it feels squeaky clean. Continue reading “Love your skin. Moisturize! | RIXREVIEWS: HERA Cell-Bio Trial Kit II | GABISTAR PH”
One of the things that small v/bloggers wish to experience is to be invited to an event. Last month, I got an invitation from a friend, who’s a fellow blogger (and someone I can consider my senior when it comes to blogging), to go to a clinic’s anniversary with him. I could not contain my happiness when I read his message, so I excitedly filled out the registration form through the link that he sent me. My friend (by the way he’s MJ aka Vanity Room Philippines. FOLLOW him!) asked me to let him know if I did not receive any e-mail by the 25th. (Or some time around that.)
Came 25th, there was no e-mail. That was when I lost my confidence and got gobbled up by the thought that it was just one of those “HOPIA” moments. (“Hopia” is actually moon cake, but has been given a new meaning – hoping for nothing.)
Okay, let me just clarify why I was too pessimistic. Continue reading “HOPIA moments, REGRETS, and anything in between”
More than two weeks ago, Anne Curtis released her own makeup line called “BLK Cosmetics”. According to her, BLK stands for ‘black’, her favorite color. She says black is “timeless, uncomplicated, classy, sophisticated, and simple.”
My sister and I purchased a few items from her line on the day it was launched, and finally, I got to film my review on the products. If you want to read my review on the two lippies, please click >> here <<.
On this post, you’ll be reading about BLK Brow Sculpting Duo and BLK Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeliner. These are the two eye products included in their initial release. Both products only have two shades – natural brown and taupe for the brow duo; black and brown for the eyeliner.
Anyway, let me share with you my thoughts on these ladies. Continue reading ““When in doubt, wing it out!”|RIXREVIEWS: BLK Cosmetics ‘Uncomplicated Beauty’ – EYES”
Several weeks ago, beauty enthusiasts all over the world got pumped up upon Riri’s release of her own beauty line called Fenty Beauty, with the tagline “Beauty for All”. Here in the Philippines, Anne Curtis, an extremely popular female celebrity has recently released her own make-up line. It’s called BLK Cosmetics. It has the tagline “Uncomplicated Beauty”.
During the launch of her products, Anne mentioned that she has partnered with Jacqe Gutierrez, one of the owners of Happy Skin – another popular local makeup brand. According to Jacqe, Anne has been hands on in the whole process, which I personally think is nice, because it just shows how dedicated and how serious she really is with her brand. It’s apparently not just business for her, and that is important for many consumers, especially for me.
So when I found out that their website was already active on Wednesday the 20th, which was the same day BLK Cosmetics was launched, my sister and I quickly placed an order to get a hold on these ladies! Everything in the collection seems

This time last year, I finally took courage to embrace my love for makeup by creating a separate account dedicated only to beauty.
Not only that, I posted my first ever makeup video on YouTube.
For years, I had restricted myself from trying to look good. I was one of those mothers who DGAF about how they looked, as long as their kids were properly clothed. Not only that, I was in that crazy time in my life when grooming was considered flirting or prettying for another person. That was also the time I’d hardly buy anything for myself. I had no balls to even stand for myself. Not that I wanted one. Haha!
But then tables were turned and my pain led me to a blessing. I got to be ME again. Then again, who WAS I? Little by little, I took my baby steps to knowing myself deeply and to savoring my freedom to embrace my individuality.
Fast forward to 2010 or 2011, I discovered my first makeup heroine – MICHELLE PHAN. I can still remember the first video I clicked. It was her Lady Gaga’s Poker Face makeup tutorial. I was so amazed by the magic of makeup!
Few more months passed, and I began playing with makeup. I started with brands I could easily get. I even used the so-called ‘SG Authentic’ eyeshadows.
And the rest is history. 🙂
Fast forward to NOW. I’ve posted 590 photos on my beauty IG account, as of the moment, and a number of makeup videos on YouTube. I’ve done a few mini giveaways, too!
Now I’d like to give back some more love through my #RIXMUKAPat1 Giveaway! Here are the items the winner will get:

Hey there! Hope you’re all safe despite the terrible weather. Yesterday was such a shizzy day and I felt like I needed to pour it out. So, yeah, as the title says it, Nope, this is not my ordinary blog post.
Yesterday’s thoughts start beyond this point: Continue reading “Nope, this is not my ordinary blog post”
Last year in December, I got my first SC Beauty Box during an event at the YouTube Lounge at Greenbelt. It was Say Tioco’s meet and greet. Prior to that, I had already subscribed to a 1-year plan. But in January, the SC PH team announced that they had to stop operations (for reasons I will not disclose). I was sad, of course, because it was the only affordable subscription box I found to be worth spending on. Some products in the box were not available in the Philippines.
Then this year in June, I saw that their FB page is still active, as well as their website. They had a promo, at that time, where they’d give a free BYS Nude palette when you subscribe to a plan. So I went over to their page and subscribed to their Savers Box, which was the cheapest one, priced at only about $10. I placed my order and checked out via PayPal; I used my GCash Mastercard to activate recurring payments.
According to them, I would receive the free eyeshadow palette on my third box AND that my June box would arrive in July. Come July, but not my box. Another payment was deducted, so that was when I started getting worried. But still, I graciously waited. Continue reading “Unboxing: The LAST SC Beauty Box (Spendless Cosmetics) in the Philippines?!”
